Concreting of P256M farm to market road in Pinukpuk gets green light

Updated: Sep 18

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Following the issuance of the No Objection Letter 2 (NOL2) by the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP), the improvement of the Pinukpuk Junction-Pakawit-Binansagan Farm-to-Market Road now lies on the hands of its winning bidder.

The Upland Construction and Engineering Services secured the contract valued at P256.41 million in a bidding that was held recently.

Before the commencement of the project anytime this year, a pre-construction conference will first be held. The conference will serve as an avenue to discuss specific implementation guidelines and processes.

The farm-to-market road project which is expected to benefit 2,164 residents of three barangays in Pinukpuk spans 12.508 kilometers.

As it connects Sitio Binansagan, Bayao to Pakawit and then Barangay Junction, said residents who are known producers of corn, banana, local coffee, rice, and other agricultural products will now be helped in transporting their products.

It will shorten their travel time, allowing them to save transportation costs and reach markets promptly and efficiently.

Said road, once completed, directly connects said barangays to a national road leading to the province’s capital, which also serves as the center of business and trade.

If recipients wish to transport their goods to Cagayan, the road is also linked to another road heading to Tuao, Cagayan, and other parts of Cagayan.

Meanwhile, another farm-to-market road project also awaits implementation in Pasil as the provincial government of Kalinga secured funding for its improvement. This is the Limood, Balinciagao Sur-Magsay-Malucsad-Amdalao Farm-to-Market Road (FMR).
