Tabuk City, Kalinga – In his talk with the 156 Special Training for Employment Program Scholars during their orientation on July 08, Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang emphasized the advantages of entrepreneurial skills over white-collar jobs.

The Representative of the Lone District of Kalinga related that skilled people appeared to have earned more than white-collar workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many doing office works, he said, were forced to be laid off, while those who have skills managed to put up their own business and even did home services.

This, he said, motivates the government to focus on capability building through skills training, especially with the demand for higher skills in the automotive, energy, hospitality as well as in the food and beverages sectors.

“Through this training program, we want to ensure that we produce skilled workforce that compete according to global demands aside from meeting the local industry standards and while we are preparing our workforce for the 21st century environment and become Industry 4.0-ready,” the congressman stated.

Mangaoang explained that the government is gearing towards the Industry 4.0 or the adoption of computers and automation but enhancing it with smart and autonomous systems fueled by data and machine learning.

He challenged the scholars to show that they are deserving of the free training by doing their best and applying the skills they will acquire for better services.

The Office of the Congressman funded said training with a total of P2,532,555.80.

“Uray nu nagadal ka, nu han mo nga ipakat, han mo nga usaren, anya sirbi na ngay,” he said.

Mangaoang further assured that the training program will continue “for as long as we see in you that eagerness to be part of the full of skilled workers in the region.”
