Cong. Mangaoang sends aid to family of Tabuk shooting victim, hopes justice be served

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Extending his condolences to the families of victims who died in ‘senseless’ shooting incidents in Tabuk City, Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang hopes that justice will be served ‘prompt and fair.’


The Congressman likewise provided burial aid and some cash assistance.


To recall, Joegie Cabicungan, 37, dental technician, and a resident of Purok 3, Bulanao, Tabuk City was shot dead while drinking at the front open area of a resto bar in Barangay San Juan at around 12:45 AM of Thursday, September 08.

A hot pursuit operation launched by the local police on the same day led to the arrest of the suspect together with his four cohorts identified by the police as natives of Basao, Kalinga and residents of Isla Basao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.


At around 5:00 PM of said date, another shooting transpired along the Provincial Road in Barangay Appas, involving a riding-in-tandem. The victim, identified as Sandro Basacoy, married, and a resident of the same barangay died few hours later that day.


In an exclusive interview with Kalinga Police Provincial Director, PCOL Peter Tagtag Jr. on September 09, he conveyed investigators are still working to identify and find the suspects who were said to be wearing mask, helmet, black shirts and were on board orange XRM MC when the tragic incident happened.

Mangaoang’s assistance to victims’ family


Congressman Mangaoang on Saturday, September 10 went to the wake to personally express his condolences to the family of Cabicungan.


According to Regino Wacas of the Office of the Congressman, Mangaoang provided burial assistance and cash aid to the bereaved family.


“It pains to see two Families lose their breadwinners from a spate of senseless shootings that transpired in our City recently. We pray for the Families of the victims as we also pray these dastardly acts will not happen again and that justice will be served prompt and fair. I extend my condolences to the victims' families and Let us pray that they will overcome these tragic incidents,” he said in his social media post.

No assistance was handed to Basacoy’s family as of yet but the Office of the Congressman remains open should they need some help.
