Rizal, Kalinga - The Provincial Local Government of Kalinga headed by Governor James Edduba held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new building for Juan M. Duyan Memorial District Hospital (JMDMH) in the municipality of Rizal on March 22, 2023.
Kalinga Information Office stated, in an interview with Station 1 Radio that "in line with its Lumin-awaan programs, the building to be put up is just one of the many projects of the current administration, especially focused on health services."
The new building of JMDMH shall aid to facilitate better health services. The area has wider spaces and can be accessed more easily by the people of Rizal and other nearby municipalities. It will be situated along the Rizal-Solana National Road.
The building has an initial funding of 37 million pesos, according to Governor Edduba. This came from a realigned budget of a project from the Provincial Local Government Unit Rise Up loan.
“And then ti pondo na daytoy, nu makita yu ti plano, is 140 million (pesos),” Edduba added.
Addressing the staff of JMDMDH, he strongly expressed hope that the new building shall be finished before the year 2025 ends.
“Isu nga kayat ko met lang nga i-confirm nga sakayunto umalis dita nu maipalpas mi pay nga usto usto, ta haan pay lang nga mabalin umalis nu halfway pay lang ti malpas. Umalis kayun tu lang nu talaga mai-palpasen inggana idiay uneg isu nga mapwersa kami talaga nga mangipalpas daytoy,” he said.
The governor likewise gave an update to other health plans provincewide under his administration’s Lumin-awa Programs that advocates for better health care preparedness, services, and responses system for the people.
One of the plans, he related is the improvement of the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH), “panag-kumpleto na (ta) adda py lng gmin ti kasapulan nga malpas idiay KPH - diay extension, emergency, diay observation room ken adu py. He also mentioned plans to put up a hospital for the municipality of Tanudan, a goal he is anticipating to be feasible sooner than the year 2025.
“Kadagidiay dadduma pay nga plano tayo iti probinsiya regarding health - because we are now in the health (discussion), isu met lang idiay Tanudan, we are just waiting because there is also a fund for that, at least 40 million ta pag-gigiddanen mi kuma nga hopefully before 2025 ket makita mi kuma nga adda ti malpasan na,” he informed.
Over 200 people witnessed the groundbreaking yesterday along with Vice Governor Jocel Baac, Board Member Danzel Langkit, Rizal Mayor Karl Baac, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Edward Tandingan, KPH Chief OIC Dr. Rey Aranca, public employees of the province’s agencies, Rizal LGU public workers, and the academe.
