Construction worker broke into a classroom in Tuao


Cagayan, Philippines – A construction worker from Conner, Apayao was arrested by the Cagayan police after allegedly breaking into a grade school classroom on Thursday, August 31.


Tuao Police Station, as cited by the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, reported they launched a hot pursuit operation on Thursday after they were alerted about a theft incident at a classroom at Bagumbayan Elementary School.

Through a witness, suspect Jeric Baluyan Dela Cruz, 29, a resident of Sacpil, Conner was put behind bars on Thursday.


Authorities recovered from the accused the belongings of the 52-year-old teacher whose classroom the suspect ransacked. The items include a P15,000-worth cellphone and P7,000 cash.


A pair of pliers which police believed Dela Cruz used to destroy the classroom’s padlock was likewise seized from his bag.


Meantime, it was earlier reported that incidents of theft in the Cagayan Valley region covered 17.20% of 186 index crimes documented for the second quarter of 2023.
