Police in Cagayan drowns while saving 2 kids

Cagayan, Philippines – On duty or not, cops are protector of people.


While on official leave, a 32-year-old policeman died but managed to save two kids from drowning on Friday, May 26.

The heroic cop was identified as Police Corporal Mark Edhyson Arinabo who was a resident of Capalallian village in Pamplona, Cagayan but was assigned at the Police Sub-Station 3 of Makati Police Station of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).


On said day, Arinabo went swimming with his family in a river along Sitio Caugingan, Masi, Pamplona, reported Cagayan Provincial Information Office.


Around 2 p.m., Arinabo who was then carrying his child sighted drowning kids. The cop didn't hesitate to dive in the river to save the two.


Arinabo was able to take the kids at the safe area of the river but he was swept by the strong current.


Responding personnel who retrieved the body of the cop rushed him to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.


The police force extended their condolences to the family of the deceased as they reminded the public to be extra cautious when swimming.
