Cordillera cops ready to secure New Year celebration


Tabuk City, Kalinga – More than a thousand police officers in Cordillera have been deployed to ensure a safe and peaceful observance of New Year’s eve in the region.


As the region gets busier in preparation for year 2023, Police Regional Office Cordillera reported they deployed a total of 1,290 cops to strategic places to increase police presence.

These areas include bus terminals, malls, markets, parks, and other places of convergence in the region.


Additionally, 390 volunteers shall be mobilized to help in crime prevention and ensuring security during the observance of New Year.


Cordillera Police Regional Director, PBGen. Mafelino Bazar appeals for public’s cooperation and tells them not to patronize illegal firecrackers. He also reminds gun owners against indiscriminate firing to avoid stray bullets which will endanger people around them.


It was earlier reported that the Christmas celebration is generally peaceful in Cordillera with no major untoward incidents monitored from the 33 crimes recorded from December 16 – December 26.
