Cordillera’s Fearless Highlanders win 11 gold medals in Palarong Pambansa 2024

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Cordillera’s “Fearless Highlanders” brought home 11 gold medals in the weeklong Palarong Pambansa held In Cebu City from July 9-16, 2024.


The team likewise collected 8 silver medals and 18 bronze medals.


The team settled for the 13th spot, defeating eight other competing regions in the country.


Contributing mostly to the hauled medals are the Taekwondo team, who ranked third overall in the said sports category.


The team collected 13 medals – 4 gold, 3 silver, and six bronze medals. The gold medalists include Alexandria Daphne Agano, Joshua Aaron Erece, Rihannah Kate Caguioa, and the Team Poomsae boys whose members are Jheron Cristobal, Enrique Manuel Oglayon, and Wentworth Tertius Tamayo.


The Wushu team, meanwhile, produced 5 gold and 2 bronze. Wushu players taking the top spot in their respective categories are Lee Aputher Santa Ana, Janna Mae Tinay, Japheth Pallogan, Chaya Clear Finmokod, and Zyrian Raiden Basa.


The wrestling team contributed 7 medals with 2 silver and 5 bronze. Additionally, there were medals coming from the players from the arnis team with Izy Zyrell Marco Pobletin as their top spot earner.


 In archery, Chass Mhaiven Nawew Colas claimed the first place in the 60-meter distance category and 4 other archers won silver and bronze, respectively. In athletics, 1 got silver in discus throw.


This year’s championship title was once again claimed by the National Capital Region with 64 gold, 48 silver and 49 bronze.


In 2025, Ilocos Norte in Region 1 will be hosting the country’s largest grassroots multisport event as they accepted the banner during the closing ceremony held on July 16.
