Cordillera student athletes, performers are in Kalinga for 2023 CARASUC Meet

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Around 2,500 college student-athletes and performers in the Cordillera are currently in Kalinga for the ongoing 2023 CARASUC Athletic Meet and Culture and the Arts Festival.

This is the first gathering of college players and performers from the 6 state universities and colleges in the region after the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

The event was opened on April 18 at the Kalinga Sports Center where the different delegates were welcomed by the Kalinga State University through a massive cultural performance from one thousand pot dancers and gong players of KSU.

KSU President Eduardo Bagtang acknowledged each delegation’s preparation for the event, citing that this friendly competition would be intense as all of the participants want to advance to the national level which will be held in Laoag City in October.

“We, in the Cordillera will be one in making a common goal of achieving the championship in the national PASUC [Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges],” he said, urging the students to do their best in their respective events.

Meanwhile, Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang who was the guest speaker noted that sports make people strong, and healthy, and it as well teaches individuals to accept defeat and celebrate victory.

Mangaoang quoted Winstons Churchill’s ‘Success is never final. Failure is never fatal. It is courage that counts for the student players and performers to remember as they compete for a spot at the national level.

The 2023 CARASUC Athletic Meet and Culture and the Arts Festival will close on April 21 at KSU.
