Cordilleran hunk now reigns as Mister Earth Philippines

Baguio City, Philippines – A proud Igorot is now the reigning King of Mister Earth Philippines after the grand titleholder Anson Kyle Santos Tanumtanum of Pampanga voluntarily gave up the crown due to disorganization, unresolved issues, and lack of support, among other reasons.

“The Mister Earth Organization let my name put down in the mud and allowed some people to tarnish my name. As someone who is under their management, it is disappointing to know that no one from the organization defended me during these times,” part of Tanumtanum’s July 18 statement reads.

On Wednesday, Mister Earth Pageant Incorporated announced its acceptance of the resignation of Tanumtanum and that Baguio City’s Kurt Justin Santiago, the Air Elemental King of the same, will take over the helm.

Santiago is from Sagada and Bontoc, Mt. Province but represented the Summer Capital of the country in said pageant held in Dec. last year where he was also named Best in Leadership and Environmental Advocacy, Online Choice, Best in Swimwear, Mister Congeniality, and Best in Arrival Attire.

The gent took to social media to express his gratitude saying, “Iyaman kakailyan! Tuloy ang trabaho. Air or Earth, our responsibility to help protect the environment continues.”

On June 05 he was crowned as Mr. Tourism Ambassador Universe - Continental International 2023, with Mr. Congeniality and Best in Talent awards in Malaysia.

He is likewise set to serve as one of the selection committee for the upcoming Mister Earth Malaysia 2023.

Santiago’s titles add voice to his advocacy for environmental protection as means to address the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations which involves battling pollution, hunger, and poverty, among others.
