Cordilleran World Champion to defend Guinness World Records title in May 2022


Baguio City, Philippines – Sandi Menchi Abahan, an Igorot multi-awarded athlete, prepares to defend her title at the first World’s Highest Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) Champion in Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania from May 4 to 10, 2022.


In the report of the Philippine Information Agency – Cordillera, Abahan secured a title in Guinness World Records for winning the highest altitude OCR, finishing the competition with 5,714 meters above sea level in the same venue last year.

Inspired by her father who hails from Ifugao and mother who is from Mountain Province, other family members and the community, Abahan is set to train in Baguio City where she grew up.


As part of her training, the world obstacle course champion will join the Altitude OCR World Series-Asia that will be held this March 26 to 27 in Mount Pulag, Kabayan, Benguet.

Abahan will likewise be participating in the Altitude OCR World Finals in Mount Toubkal, Morocco this August and the Altitude OCR World Championships in Mount Everest, Nepal in November.


She is grateful for the support she had been receiving and appeals continued assistance as she competes worldwide.

Aside from her Guinness World Record title, Abahan is a SEA gold medallist, a Spartan Pro athlete, and fully recognized trail runner.
