Baguio City, Philippines – Various traditional dances and music of the provinces in Cordillera were performed by the members of Center for Creative Productions of the University of the Cordilleras at the 2022 Jinju World Folk Arts Biennale being held in South Korea.

With the theme, “Diversity, Foundation of Creativity,” the Biennale seeks to highlight the sharing of experiences and good practices between member cities of the network, artists and other relevant stakeholders, says United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Being a UNESCO Creative City, Baguio is among the seven cities from all over the world that were invited to feature cultural performances in the event.

Jinju World Folk Arts Biennal was formally opened on October 15 and is set to conclude on Saturday, October 22.

The UC students performed the Cordilleran dances and music on Sunday, October 16.

Further, the “Kalaleng” was played by John Lino Familaran.

The UC-CCP Director Peejay C. Natiola, in their interview with Regional News Group - RNG Luzon, expressed they felt proud for having the opportunity to “present not only the skills of these students, our university but as well as the culture of our region - the Cordillera region.”
