Couple killed in Cauayan, Isabela road mishap

Isabela, Philippines – A husband and wife died from serious injuries after a road crash on the national highway in Barangay Nungnungan 2, Cauayan City on Tuesday morning, July 26, 2022.

The victims, William Dela Cruz, 35, heavy equipment operator and Emalyn Dela Cruz, 36, secretary, were said to be traversing the road going towards Alicia, Isabela on their motorcycle when the incident happened.

A KIA Pride, following their motorcycle from behind, allegedly hit the back of their vehicle while the KIA turned left to enter another street, 98.5 iFM Cauayan reported.

The four-wheeled vehicle was said to be driven by Henry Baccay, 62. Due to the impact, the married couple fell to the ground, causing them severe injuries.

The two were rushed to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

The driver of the other vehicle, on the other hand, drove to the Echague Police Station where he surrendered himself.

The PNP Echague turned over the driver to the Cauayan City Police Station.

A case of Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Double Homicide and Damage to Property is expected to be filed against the driver.
