Cow kills 81-yr.-old man in Bangued, Abra

Bangued, Abra – An 81-year-old man died after he was attacked by his cow Monday, August 14.

The victim’s wife told local media on Tuesday that her husband was about to graze their cow when he was attacked by the animal.

The attack which happened around 5 PM on said date resulted in the victim, Julio Bilgera, a resident of Barangay Sao-atan, Bangued, to sustain various injuries in several parts of his body.

“Idi naipakleben, nagna metten diay baka tapos pimmanaw. Pinadas ko nga tinulungan ngem diyak met mabangun ta napigsa met,” the wife narrated.

The victim was eventually aided by his nephews and was ferried to the hospital.

His injuries led to his demise while being treated.

It was known later from his son that the cow is in heat which may have caused the animal to attack its owner.

Due to the incident, the family is now planning to sell the cow which they have been tending to for almost five years now.

To recall, an animal attack, specifically a carabao attack, also caused the death of a 63-year-old man in another municipality of said province on November 26, 2020.

The victim was identified as Pepito Baldemor, a resident of Barangay Bai, Lagayan.

It is uncommon to hear stories like this, but domesticated animals can occasionally become vicious and may launch a fatal attack even on their owners.
