From January to July 2023, the crime volume in Kalinga reached 152 cases, surpassing the 147 incidents documented for the same period last year.

The data was reported by PMaj. George Acob, Deputy Chief of the Provincial Operation and Management Unit, during the Kalinga Provincial Council for Peace and Order (PPOC) and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) meeting on August 22.

Of the 152 cases, 55 are index crimes or crimes against a person and property while 97 are non-index which includes violations of special laws.

Index crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, motorcycle theft and vehicle theft.

Tabuk City, being the capital of Kalinga and the center of business, covered most of the index cases with 36 incidents from January to July 2023.

For Balbalan, 3 index crimes were recorded; Lubuagan, 2; Pasil, 2; Pinukpuk, 3; Rizal, 2; Tanudan, 3; and Tinglayan, 4.
