DA-CAR responds to 34 Tabuk rice farmers complaint on non-inclusion for cash aid

Updated: Jul 5, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Earlier this month, a total of 34 farmers in Agbannawag, Tabuk raised a complaint to the Department of Agriculture – Cordillera regarding their non-inclusion in the list of Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund - Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) beneficiaries.

On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, the department thru DA-CAR said that their personnel have responded to the farmers’ concern.

Regional Rice Program Coordinator Edwin Joseph Franco had a dialogue with the farmer-complainants and other rice farmers of the community on June 23, 2022 in Agbannawag.

During the dialogue, Franco reiterated the guidelines for the cash assistance.

He explained that in order to qualify for the RCEF-RFFA Fiscal Year 2021, a farmer must be duly registered in the Registry System for the Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) as of August 11, 2021.

Priority farmers are those who are yet to receive assistance from the program.

The farmer-beneficiaries, he added, are those tilling two hectares and below.

The aid likewise requires the farmer to have only one beneficiary per household.

“The one beneficiary per household refers to every family having every head of the family in order to benefit more families,” added the department.

At the same event, other farmers present were oriented for RCEF-RFFA Program FY 2022.

The program follows the same protocols, except that the RSBSA registration has ended on March 31, 2022.

Unregistered farmers were advised to visit the Office of the City Agriculturist for RSBSA registration.

Registered farmers should verify their status at the said office ‘to ensure inclusion for future assistance.’
