Dao-as assures “open book” governance if elected mayor of Tabuk City

Tabuk City, Kalinga - In his fight against corruption, City Vice Mayor and aspiring Mayor of Tabuk, Bernard Glenn Dao-as, assured that all government transactions in the Local Government Unit (LGU) shall be an “open book” if elected as Chief Executive.

One of the top changes Tabukeños would feel once Dao-as becomes the Mayor is his “OPEN BOOK POLICY” with the aim to make all transactions published including meetings and sessions for the public to get first-hand information about what is happening at the City Hall.

Dao-as is a known critic of the current administration.

He said while he supported the positive performance of Mayor Darwin Estrañero, he is against blatant corruption.

Dao-as alleged that the current administration is riddled with corruption, and thus he had to file cases against officials at the Office of the Ombudsman. Some of the transactions he claimed anomalous were the LGU’s purchase of a 1.8-hectare lot worth 45 million pesos and the questionable purchase of thermal scanners that were bought at 12,000 pesos per piece at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Corruption, according to Dao-as, should be stopped if true and lasting development is to be achieved.

“Nu sungbatan ti problema ti corruption ket masulbar tayu amin ti problema daytoy siyudad tayo a Tabuk,” Dao-as reiterated during the Voter's Education and Media Forum launched by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) - Tabuk City and the City Public Information Office (CPIO).

In his parting statement, Dao-as said that if he wins the election, he will listen to people and he shall welcome criticisms “uray below the belt” as this shall help him self-correct.

“Ket kas nangegan tayo met amin garud kakailyan a taga Tabuk ket intay met amin nasungbatan dagiti question yo ket kunak pay uray below the belt… Ket kasta met lang apo ti innak aramiden nu datayo ti mapagasatan nga ag-mayor ditoy siyudad tayu nga Tabuk.”

“Ket okay nak met latta nga i-criticize yu, haan kunto mapan idar-darum dagiti media wenno assinu man dita a mangdillaw kanyak. Pagyamanak pay ketdi a nu dillawen nak ti padak a tao ta panangisakit apo dayta panangdildillaw da, nu kanyak, tapnu ti kasta ket haanak a mailumlom iti basol.”
