OFW's daughter from Atok, Benguet tops Dec. 2022 criminology board exam

Benguet, Philippines – Narcilisa Ponase Talipnao, a daughter of an Overseas Filipino Worker from Barangay Naguey, Atok, Benguet secured the top 1 spot of the Criminologist Licensure Examination (CLE) held in December 2022.

In a result released by the Professional Regulation Commission on January 19, 11,098 examinees passed said licensure examination out of 33,489 who took the exam on December 4-6.

Narcilisa scored the highest among the examinees, garnering a 91.60% rating.

The 23-year-old topnotcher graduated as Magna Cum Laude with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Criminology at the University of Baguio in 2022.

She enrolled in two review centers - the CareerZone Revier Center and Amici Review Center so she could adequately prepare for her exam.

In an interview with GURU Press Cordillera, she disclosed that the high expectations from her friends and family put pressure on her, affecting her focus during her review days.

“The fear and pressure sometimes interfere with my focus and sometimes to the point that I would cry or just blankly stare at the books unmotivated,” she relayed.

To overcome the pressure, she challenged herself to put more effort to review and thought of her mother's sacrifices, working abroad to provide for her needs.

“Isa din po is yung ate ko na from Day 1 pa po is naniniwala na po talaga na mag to-topnotcher ako at laging nagbo-boost ng confidence ko pag sinasabi ko pong parang di ko na kaya. Also, my friends po na laging nag e-encourage po sa akin and yung mga topnotchers din po na name-meet ko, yung mga kuwento po nila inspired me na kung kinaya nila, kakayanin ko din po,” she added.

Asked about her future plans after topping the board, Narcilisa is considering working in the academe.
