Tabuk City, Kalinga – From achieving high grades in the modular set-up, students’ performance drops in the face-to-face learning method, exposes the Department of Education – Cordillera in a regional report aired on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

Regional Director of DepEd – CAR, Estella Cariño said this is since the students have their all the support they needed while they are in modular classes, as compared to the in-person where they needed to accomplish activities all by themselves.

“Nakita natin na yung may mataas ang grades nung sa modular, bumaba noong nagface-to-face sila because as I’ve said, noon kasi especially for some activities, they all have their source kung paano sagutin, may tutulong sa kanila pero sa school, sila na talaga,” disclosed Cariño through PTV – Cordillera.

According to the regional department, a total of 109, 939 students in 1,246 schools in Cordillera are now under the limited face-to-face classes and none among the participating learners and DepEd personnel were reported to have been infected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The department started implementing limited in-person classes in November 2021 with only 10 schools to cope with the observed learning losses due to closure of educational institutions brought about by the pandemic.

All of the deployed teaching personnel were vaccinated before the department gave a go signal for them to take part in the said set-up. This is to ensure protection of their colleagues and learners.

Minimum public health standards such as wearing of face mask and social distancing are being practiced to prevent virus transmission.
