DILG Sec. Abalos joins “BIDA” Anniversary Celebration in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga - The province of Kalinga hosted on Friday, June 14 the region wide Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Anniversary Celebration held at the Kalinga Sports Center, Capitol Hills, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

 

Said event kicked off with various activities such as fun run, zumba, and tree planting, led by Governor James Edduba, along with participants from government agencies and various sectors in the region.

 

An opening program followed at the Kalinga Sports Center with DILG Secretary Benjamin "Benhur” Abalos Jr. serving as the guest of honor and speaker.


Abalos, in his speech, highlighted the importance of cooperation and taking actions in combating illegal drugs, while encouraging the parents and ykalinga youth to partake in government programs and activities against illegal drugs.

 

After his speech, the secretary was declared as an adopted son of Kalinga, effectively granting him all the privileges as son of the province including protection under the umbrella of the Bodong Justice System.

 

As part of the celebration, free services from various national line agencies were also offered to the public.

 

These include haircut, Issuance of police clearance, PNP Recruitment drive, BJMP recruitment drive, distribution of dental kits and provision of fluoride treatment for children ages 2-14, among others.

 

To recall, the BIDA program was launched by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) last year. This is an intensified and more holistic campaign against illegal drugs.
