Tabuk City, Kalinga – For gun owners in the province, renewal of gun ownership or getting a license to own one can be done in Kalinga this coming May 14 and 15 with the License to Own and Possess Firearms(LTOPF) caravan which is to be done at the Eco-Tourism Building, Liwan West in Rizal.

The caravan will include services such as neuro exam, drug test, and gun safety seminar. Additionally, the National Bureau of Investigation Region II will also be there to give NBI clearance.

Police Captain George Acob, Rizal Police Chief said that the caravan aims to provide a lesser hassle avenue for firearms holders to secure or to renew their license. Through the activity, the personnel from the region will be the ones to come to Kalinga to process their papers.

“Magco-conduct po tayo ng LTOPF caravan sponsored by the Local Government Unit of Rizal para rin po matulungan po natin ‘yung mga may baril na expired na po ang mga LTOPF nila kasi po hindi po sila makakapag-renew ng firearms kung wala po silang updated po na LTOPF,” he added.

Requirements for applicants

Before going to the venue this Friday and Saturday, one must secure a national police clearance from the Tabuk City Police Station and bring with them 2 notarized application form.

For new LTOPF applicants, they should bring with them additional requirements which include NSO birth certificate or a photocopy of passport or birth certificate from local civil registrar; barangay clearance or any proof of billing in the name of applicant or in the name of the spouse with marriage contract; 2 copies of a valid government ID; and proof of income (or any of the following: pay slip for private employee, land title or certification from barangay chairmen and COP for proof of livelihood for farmers, retirement order, certificate of employment, or appointment order).

In the registration, payment for neuro and drug test, neuro exam, drug test, gun safety seminar, creation of FEO account, and uploading and submission of requirements shall follow.

Importance of LTOPF

The Chief of Police further said that an LTOPF is a pre-requisite to renewing one’s firearm and that without it, a gun will be considered loose or illegal. If it is unregistered, it will be subjected to search warrants for their confiscation.

Acob said the gun owners should attend the 2-day caravan to learn more about gun ownership, “inaanyayahan po natin lahat ng mga firearms holders na i-avail po ‘tong program na ‘to para po mas madali ‘yung pag-renew nila ng mga firearms po nila at tsaka pati po ‘yung mga wala pa pong firearms na may balak po na bumili ng firearms, pwede na rin po silang mag-avail dito sa LTOPF caravan po natin.”
