DOLE-CAR reminds employers of new wage rate implementation

Updated: Oct 14, 2022

Baguio City, Philippines – The Department of Labor and Employment – Cordillera through its Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board reiterated the new wage rate to be implemented on June 14, 2022.

By virtue of Wage Order No. CAR-21, all formal sector workers in the region shall have a minimum of P380 daily wage instead of the previous P340 or P350.

The rate, according to RTWPB, shall apply to all minimum wage earners in the private sector within the region, regardless of position, designation, or status and irrespective of the method by which their wages are paid.

For domestic workers, they shall have a minimum monthly rate of P4,500.

The department warned establishments to comply with the order and pay their workers with the right amount, as they will be monitoring if adjustments were applied.

Exemption

DOLE Regional Director Atty. Nathaniel Lacambra earlier underscored that employers with less than 10 workers may apply or file for the order exemption to their local department.

Another wage increase to take effect

Starting January 1, 2023, the existing P380 daily wage shall be made P400 in all areas of the region.

Lacambra explained the salary increase would be implemented in two tranches since business establishments are still recovering from the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
