Domestic helper from Kalinga found dead on Hong Kong beach

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A Kalinga domestic helper who was reported missing by her employers was found dead along Stanley Beach in Hong Kong on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023.

This was confirmed by OWWA Kalinga Family Welfare Officer Rhea Alos through a conversation with Station 1 Radio.

The 49-year-old Georgia Walis Gonayon, a native of Tanudan, Kalinga reportedly left her residence on Pok Fu Lam road in the afternoon of Sept. 12, 2023.

Reports from the media said her employers reported her disappearance to the police on the same day.

On Sept. 13, the Hong Kong police appealed to the public to contact them should they see Gonayon who was described to be 1.6 meters tall, about 59 kilograms with a medium body build, and dark hair.

Additionally, the missing Overseas Filipino Worker was last seen wearing a white jacket, blue jeans, white and purple shoes, and a black bag.

On Friday morning, however, she was found lifeless on the beach. Investigation into the case is ongoing.
