Driver in Tabuk hit-and-run surrenders to authorities

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The suspect behind the death of PMSg. Aldrine Agpad turned himself in on Tuesday evening, according to Kalinga police spokesperson PCapt. Ruff Manganip.

Manganip told GURU Press Cordillera that the 47-year-old driver whose name was withheld was tracked after an abandoned silver Toyota Innova was discovered at the farm of Vice Governor Jocel Baac at Sitio Callagdao, Bulanao.

Upon discovery of the car, the vice governor immediately turned it over to the police which paved the way for the identification of the suspect.

Through coordination, the driver surrendered to the Kalinga Police Provincial Director, PCol. Freddie Lazona who proceeded to Enrile, Cagayan together with Vice Governor Baac on December 5.

Manganip relayed that the suspect admitted to hitting Agpad on December 1 in Nambaran, Tabuk City, but he was rattled and scared which led him to drive away from the place of incident.

“Inamin na met lang nga isuna … nataranta ken nagbuteng ta baka kanu patayen da met lang,” he said.

The 47-year-old driver is now in the custody of Tabuk City Police Station. Appropriate charges are now being readied against him.
