Drunk minor dies in motorcyle crash in Isabela

San Manuel, Isabela – An intoxicated minor was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car over the weekend, according to police.

The victim, a 15-year-old student, was one of the two back riders of a certain Christian Dizon, 16, while traversing a road in Barangay Sandiat Centro, San Manuel, using a motorcycle. The other back rider was named Ernest Frias, 15.

Meantime, the car was driven by a certain Kenneth Antonio, 45, married and a government employee.

Police investigation revealed that Antonio was about to enter the intersection of the road while the minors were exiting the intersection when the tragic incident happened.

Accordingly, while the car was getting in the intersection, the motorcycle went straight down the intersection and struck the right side of the vehicle.

With the impact of the crash, the three minors sustained head injuries and other injuries in various parts of their bodies.

They were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital, but Jake Carmelo was declared dead on arrival.

It was later known that the three minors were under the influence of alcohol when the accident transpired.

San Manuel Police told local media they are now waiting for the decision of the victim’s mother on whether she will file charges against the suspect. If she pursues the case, Antonio might be facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property.

The family of the two other minors, meantime, has already decided not to pursue a case against Antonio.
