Drunk rider killed in Isabela road crash


Alicia, Isabela – Alcohol was blamed as the culprit for the involvement of a 36-year-old farmer in a self-inflicted road accident, causing his death the night of Tuesday, December 27, along the highway in Barangay Apanay, Alicia.


The victim was identified by police as Dexter Dela Cruz, a resident of Reina Mercedes.


His wife, in an interview with a local media in the area, said that she was informed by his husband that he will be heading home to Santiago on said date.

She shared that she even asked whether her husband was drunk that night which the latter admitted.


Even when intoxicated, the rider still traveled home but upon reaching the said area, the unfortunate accident happened.


Alicia Police Station was notified of the said accident and in the information relayed, the rider was even thrown in a canal at the side of the road.


The man involved was ferried by Rescue 531 of Alicia, Isabela but was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.


With the accident, Alicia police remind motorists anew not to drive when intoxicated to avoid untoward incidents
