Updated: Jul 15, 2023

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The provinces of Kalinga, Apayao, and Cagayan are experiencing dry spell, says the state weather bureau.

Dry spell, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, is a 21 to 60 percent reduction in average rainfall for three consecutive months brought about by the El Niño effect.

Lesser rains may cause a dwindling of water supply, increase in water bills, and damage to agricultural products, among other adverse impacts thus, residents are being urged to prepare to adopt water-saving measures to help the government.

Other areas that are likely to be added to the list may experience dry conditions and droughts later due to the El Niño phenomenon.
