Tabuk City Kalinga – The establishment of a building for the provincial Department of Trade and Industry in Kalinga will soon be realized, assured by Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang during the provincial ceremonial graduation of the Kapatid Mentor Me-Money and Market Encounter (KMME-MME) Online 2022 Batch 1 and 2 held on Friday, September 09 in Bulanao, Tabuk City.
Mangaoang, in his keynote message delivered by his representative Regino Wacas, stated he already had a meeting with Secretary Manny Bonoan of the Department of Public Works and Highways for said development.
Also, part of his initiatives for the department are the Roads Leveraging Industry and Trade (ROLL IT) infrastructure programs to keep residents safe and help boost their livelihood.
“So far, P205 million for various ROLL IT roads in the province is in the National Expenditure Program for 2023,” conveyed the congressman.
‘Training and mentorship help MSMEs scale up and sustain businesses’
Meanwhile, Mangaoang commended DTI-Kalinga for ‘a job well done.’
“We thank you for the excellent programs you have conceptualized, like the KMME. It really is a big help to our MSMEs especially when it comes to training and mentorship in elevating their business models so that they will become productive contributors to economic development,” he expressed.
The country’s economic growth and success, he said, are attributed to the vibrant entrepreneurship spirit of the MSME which plays a significant role in reducing poverty and achieving inclusive growth.
Mangaoang then congratulated the 18 local entrepreneur-graduates who underwent the 10-module online mentorship program that helps them scale up and sustain their businesses.
He further stressed that the government should provide full support to the MSMEs ‘because during the pandemic period, it’s the micro-enterprises that have kept the local economy on even keel.’
“That’s why, when we deliberate on the yearly National expenditure program or the General Appropriations bill, we are making sure that programs and initiatives that will spur local economic development through the strengthening of the potentials of micro, small and medium enterprises will have a fair share of the national budget… It is on these parameters that I would like to assure our DTI Family of our sustained support on all its programs for the business sector,” concluded the congressman.
