DTI-CAR Youth Entrepreneurship Program Year 3 launched in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Department of Trade and Industry – Cordillera launched virtually on Thursday, June 30, its Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) in the Province of Kalinga at Kalinga State University.


YEP, with its tagline, “Harnessing Our Own Resources for the Advancement of the Youth” (HOORAY), intends to address the young demographics to become productive individuals through entrepreneurship.


Now in its Year 3, the Cordillera YEP features Project MARITES (Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Student-Grantees) of the Regional Commission of Higher Education.


The CHED-CAR is the first in the country to initiate said project to help in the success of college scholars who venture in business.


In Kalinga, 10 college trainees will be joining the first Batch of Project MARITES.

Trainees include Joycee Marie P. Alos, Marisol A. Balais, Phoebe S. Ba-ong, Jeffrey G. Bassiag, Fatima G. Bauso, Dorie G. Cacatian, Stephanie E. Denna, Berlyn W. Gaddawan, Zoren G. Gumisa, and Dina D. Sillatoc.


Meanwhile, the participants for this year’s YEP are Jovyniel Panisigan of Akilez’ Bread and Pastry House, Jireh Mae Galwagao of Mushroom Production, Daniel Ao-wat of Kinwa Etnika Handicrafts, Avegail Likilic of Food Restaurant, and Erick Jay Labayan of SASU Restaurant.


Enread Bangniwan of DTI-Kalinga, in an interview, disclosed the program beneficiaries will first undergo three-day preparatory sessions before they start their four focused modules sometime around the third week of July.


The modules, which are expected to be finished by September, are aimed at capacitating the youth as entrepreneurs.


Following the four modules, there will be a provincial and regional business pitching where prizes await winners, Bangniwan further conveyed.


During her talk, Trade and Development Specialist Maria Cecilia Baral congratulated the beneficiaries for having been chosen to be part of the program.
