DTI-Kalinga announces top 3 winners of YEP’s ‘Project MARITES’


Tabuk City, Kalinga- The top 3 winners of Business Pitch Competition at the provincial level were announced Tuesday, September 27.


The competition is part of the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) - Project Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Student-Grantees (MARITES) of the Department of Trade and Industry of Kalinga.


The announcement was done through the DTI-Kalinga Facebook page following the business pitch presentation of young entrepreneurs in the province on September 23, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

Said 3 young entrepreneurs were assessed by the invited panelists based on the quality of their business start-up and their performance in presenting their business concept.


In the business presentation, the criteria given were energy and confidence with a 20 percent rate, marketability, and sustainability with 20 percent, product and service analysis with 20 percent, and innovativeness for the idea, concept, or business solution with 40 percent to make it a total of 100 percent.


John Lloyd Villamayor of LF Ka Pares Hub got the 1st place, Erick Jay Labayan owner of Pat & Macio’s Restaurant was the 2nd place, and Stephanie Denna of Paper Dreams was the 3rd place.


Said winners shall receive livelihood kits and P10,000 cash prize each, according to Focal Person Enread Bangniwan.

As disclosed by Bangniwan, the top 1 and top 2 will represent the province for the upcoming Regional Business Pitch Competition in October 2022 in Baguio City.


What is ‘Project Marites’


Project MARITES is a partnership program of the provincial Department of Trade and Industry, Kalinga State University, and the Regional Commission on Higher Education.


The joint venture is conceptualized to equip the beneficiaries the adequate knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship they need to start-up small-scale businesses.
