DTI's youth entrepreneurship project "MARITES" implemented in Kalinga anew

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Youth Entrepreneurship Program - Project MARITES (Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Student-Grantees) is now ongoing in Kalinga to provide entrepreneurship training to youth who ventures into business.

Now in its second year, YEP-Project Marites is a collaboration of the Department of Trade and Industry - Cordillera and the Regional Commission on Higher Education to equip the youth with adequate knowledge and skills in starting small-scale businesses.

This year, a total of 25 student-grantees in the province will benefit from said program. They are now undergoing free business mentorship modules as of this week.

In his congratulatory message, DTI-Kalinga Provincial Director Renie Ramos said the program is a ‘great opportunity for youth to become more confident and gain experience in managing their desired businesses.’

“This YEP-Project Marites is a great opportunity. It will really drive you to become more confident and gain first-hand experience in managing your respective businesses soon. After this training, we are poised that you successful trainees will emerge as the new breed of entrepreneurs in our province” he stated.

On July 21, which is the final day of training, the mentees are expected to present their business pitch, the entries will be judged accordingly, and an announcement of the winners will follow.

As recalled, the top 3 winners were announced during the program’s launching in the province last year.

Said winners received livelihood kits and a P10,000 cash prize each.

The top 1 and top 2 winners represented the province during the Regional Business Pitch Competition last October 2022 in Baguio City.
