Tabuk City, Kalinga – Heads and employees of Kalinga provincial government led by Gov. James Edduba gathered on Monday, July 17, at the Sports Center, Capitol Hills, Bulanao, Tabuk City not just for a flag-raising ceremony, but to likewise send off the army members of Mobile Community Support Sustainment Team.

The team from the Philippine Army’s 103rd Infantry (Mabalasik) Battalion and 54th Infantry (Magilas) Battalion of 503rd Infantry Brigade under the 5th Infantry Division underwent refresher training before their deployment, reported the Provincial Information Office.

As duty-bearers with obligation to the public, the government troops were cautioned “to uphold and protect Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.”

Members of said team will be stationed in previously insurgency-cleared villages of Balbalan, Lubuagan, Pasil, Pinukpuk, Tinglayan, and Tabuk City to coordinate, facilitate, and validate the delivery of community projects, including water systems, livelihood programs, farm-to-market roads, among others.

Additionally, they are expected to revisit and address the issues raised by the community, enhance stakeholders' engagements and facilitate convergence, sustain and improve the established Integrated Territorial System, and intensify mechanisms to insulate communities cleared of the influence of the communist terrorist groups.

Supervision was tasked to respective local government units and police deployed in the area.

Extending his support to the initiative which is part of the whole-of-nation approach, Edduba’s office provided additional food supplies to the army. The given aid includes sacks of rice and grocery items.

In his talk, Brigadier General Santiago Enginco of 503rd IB encouraged soldiers to remain strong in carrying out their mission of protecting the general public.
