Old man dies after he was hit by SUV in Isabela

Isabela, Philippines – An elderly pedestrian was not able to survive after getting hit by an SUV on Sunday, Nov. 05 in San Manuel, Isabela.

The casualty identified by police as Rogelio Cabute, 65, farmer, and from San Manuel town, died from serious injuries on different parts of his body.

Local media reported that the senior citizen was heading to the north direction in Barangay District 1, but as he was about to cross the road, he was hit by a Mitsubishi Adventure driven by Alias Joey, 37, a resident of Roxas.

The driver claimed he didn’t see the victim crossing that resulted in the accident.

Cabute was brought to the hospital, but he didn’t make it. The suspect, on the other hand, was locked up at San Manuel Police Station and will be facing a case of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide.

Data from the Department of Health, meantime, revealed that 3,295 pedestrians got involved in traffic accidents in the country in 2022.
