Old man's rotting body found in Caggay, Tuguegarao

Cagayan, Philippines – The body of a 60-year-old man lay rotting inside his room in Barangay Caggay, Tuguegarao City.

Police Regional Office 2, in a press release on January 4, 2023, relayed they are currently investigating the case of a dead man named Manuel Dela Pena Amoncio. He was hired to take care of a building at the said place last year.

Amoncio’s cadaver was discovered by the authorities after the building owner, Danilo Dy sought their help as he couldn’t reach the victim on the phone since December 17, 2022. The police had to break into his room since it was locked and it was where they found him.

Police said the man could have died of hypertension.

As of Wednesday, investigators are still waiting for the result of his medico-legal to determine the real cause of his death.

The PNP Tuguegarao already coordinated with the PNP Cavite and other PNP units to get information about the victim. The police are yet to establish his real residence since he has different addresses on his identification cards – Cavite, Bohol, and Metro Manila.

Likewise, the PNP Tuguegarao appealed to anyone who knows Amoncio to contact them through 09058005118. They noted that they could not contact the numbers retrieved from his phone.
