Elderly stabs to death barangay tanod in Baggao, Cagayan

Baggao, Cagayan – A 55-year-old man was killed after he was stabbed by an elderly, who happened to be his neighbor, Monday, June 3 at Zone 7, Pallagao, Baggao, Cagayan.

The victim – a barangay tanod, who was then under the influence of alcohol, showed up in front of a group of people having a drinking session. The elderly was then on said group.

While there, the victim, based on police investigation started an argument saying the suspect usually becomes boastful especially when he is intoxicated.

An altercation followed until the elderly named as Martin Dela Cruz took a knife and stabbed the victim.

It was known by police that the two had past grievances. This might have triggered the suspect to settle a score.

The victim was ferried to the Baggao District Hospital, but later transferred to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center. However, he was declared dead upon arriving at said medical facility.

Dela Cruz, who is now temporarily jailed at Baggao Police Station, will be facing homicide charges.

To recall, a hacking incident also transpired in another town of Cagayan last month, particularly in Rizal when a past issue was brought up in the middle of a drinking session.
