Electrician in Cagayan electrocuted while attaching service drop wire in Sta. Ana

Cagayan, Philippines – A 38-year-old private electrician was found hanging on an electric pole in Santa Ana on November 12, 2024.

On November 7, Santa Ana became the center of Typhoon Marce which made landfall in the municipality around 3:40 p.m. This brought heavy rains and strong winds to the municipality, causing power outages in many areas.

With this, linemen were deployed in various areas in Cagayan to work on restoring the power following the onslaught of two typhoons, Marce and Nika.

This Tuesday, however, a tragedy happened to a private electrician from Sta. Cruz, Sta. Ana while working by himself.

According to the report of the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, the victim identified by authorities to be Joseph James Cadauan was connecting the service drop wire which was disconnected during Marce.

However, while doing the task, the victim accidentally touched a CAGELCO live wire which resulted in his electrocution.

The Sta. Ana police responded to the incident after they were alerted by citizens who found the 38-year-old hanging in an electric post. The victim was ferried to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
