Escapee nabbed in Rizal, Kalinga after 9 years of hiding

Rizal, Kalinga – After escaping prison in 2014, a fugitive who found his place of refuge at Sitio San Vicente, San Quintin, Rizal was captured by police on Monday, August 07.

The prisoner was identified by Rizal police as a 39-year-old farmer and a resident of Diffun, Quirino.

He was detained in September 2014 for violating the Anti-carnapping law and committing robbery with force upon things but was able to escape from Cabarroguis District Jail.

Following a tip that the fugitive was in the town, Rizal police immediately validated the information and found out it was true.

Police authorities likewise coordinated with Diffun MPS, Quirino and Cabarroguis District Jail, and Regional Trial Court Second Judicial Region, Branch 32, Quirino for verification of facts about the escapee's case.

A collaborative operation was then made resulting in the successful arrest of the suspect.

He was turned over to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Region 2 STAR team for proper disposition.

In a statement, Rizal police acknowledged the strengthened police-community partnership in the area, saying ‘it once again proved that the community always plays a vital role in crime prevention and solving.’
