Ex-con wounded after gunfire exchange during buy-bust in Cagayan

Cagayan, Philippines – A drug suspect ended up in a hospital after getting shot when he tried to fire his gun at an undercover operative during a buy-bust operation on Tuesday night, May 25, in Solana, Cagayan.


Report said that the ex-con sensed he was transacting with a drug operative and pulled his hand gun deciding to kill the undercover cop but he missed.

With this, the police and the suspect exchanged gunfire until the ex-con was wounded and unable to fight back. After the short fusillade ended, he was rushed to Saint Paul Hospital in Tuguegarao City.


Cagayan Police Provincial Office identified the suspect as aka ‘Polo,’ who sold two pieces of heat-sealed transparent sachets containing suspected shabu to an undercover police.


Confiscated from the suspect include 28 pieces of sachets containing alleged shabu with Dangerous Drugs Board value amounting to P60,000; a colt caliber 45; 4 pieces of P500 bills; and a motorcycle.


It was found that the suspect was previously charged with the same offense in 2012, and got convicted then detained at the National Bilibid Prison.
