Fallen iKalinga police honored with posthumous award for bravery and service

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Patrolman Resty Bayog, one of the seven police officers onboard the ill-fated boat in Apayao, was accorded with a posthumous award for his ‘exceptional bravery and service’.

 

Bayog was one of the seven-man team assigned on a mission to arrest the suspect of a recent shooting incident in Calanasan, Apayao on December 6 when their boat capsized. At that time, the water level at the Apayao River was high and the current was strong due to the incessant rain in the municipality.

 

The 27-year-old iKalinga, along with two others, unfortunately drowned and their bodies were retrieved from different areas in Apayao. For Baydon’s remains, it was found by the search and retrieval team on December 7.

 

Kalinga Police Provincial Director, PCol. Gilbert Fati-ig visited the wake of the fallen iKalinga police officer in Ileb, Nambaran where he extended the organization’s sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family.

 

During the visit on Sunday, December 8, Fati-ig likewise presented to Bayog’s father the posthumous citation for his son which recognizes his exceptional service and courage.

 

“The award highlights his dedication and courage, reflecting the ultimate sacrifice he made in carrying out his duty. His heroic actions continue to inspire fellow officers and serve as a testament to the valor and professionalism of the Philippine National Police,” the Kalinga Police Provincial Office wrote.

 

Bayog was assigned at the 2nd Apayao Provincial Mobile Force Company before the tragic event.
