Family outing turns tragic: 7-yr-old boy drowns in resort’s swimming pool in Alicia, Isabela

Alicia, Isabela - A supposed day full of enjoyment of a family outing turned into a tragedy after a 7-year-old boy drowned at a resort in Alicia, Isabela on Saturday, October 19.

The boy, hidden under the name "Brix," was a Grade 2 student and a resident of Barangay Paddad, Alicia.

Police reports narrated that the boy was with his dad and friends when they were at the resort for a family outing.

While they were at the resort, the boy and his father went to the children's pool to swim, while the others were preparing their food.

After some time, the father left the boy in the pool and returned to their cottage to discuss things with his friends. After half an hour, the father went back to the children’s pool to check on his son but got worried since he couldn't find him there.

In a rush, the father went next to the adult pool, and there,  he saw his son already lying on the floor of the pool unconscious. He then lifted the child out of the water and performed CPR on him.

After several CPR attempts, the boy was still unconscious; thus, the father rushed his son to the nearest hospital from the resort, but the attending physician declared the boy dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, Alicia PNP Patrol Man Jeffrey Guiwo, in his interview with the media, said that the lifeguard of the resort did not see what happened to the victim because he was eating at that time of the incident.
