Farmer in Benguet loses 200kg potatoes to thieves who dug on his farm

Buguias, Benguet - Around 200 kilograms of potatoes were unearthed by unidentified individuals from a farm at Sitio Cotcot, Buguias, Benguet.

The owner of the farm was identified as Crispin Caslangen, 22, and a resident of Sebang, Buguias, Benguet.

Accordingly, Caslangen went to her farm on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, to harvest her crops when she found out that about 100 square meters of her potato plantation had been dug up.

In her interview with local media, Caslangen explained that the current price of potatoes in the market is high, which may have caused the suspects to steal her crops.

She believes that the incident might have taken place around 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. on said day.

To recall, a similar incident occurred on August 12 this year in the same area, wherein a carrot plantation was sprayed with an herbicide by unknown suspects.

The farmer’s crops died and rotted due to the sprayed chemical, which likewise caused the victim to lose about P100,000.
