Isabela farmer gets jailed for illegal possession of grenade

Cauayan City, Isabela - A farmer in Cauayan City, Isabela, has been jailed after a hand grenade was seized from him during a search warrant operation by the authorities on Sunday, September 3.

The suspect was identified as alias “John”, 55, and a resident of said area.

In pursuant to Search Warrant Nos. 37-2023 in violation of Republic Act 10591, and 38-2023 in violation of RA 9516 issued by Executive Judge Reymundo Aumentado, John was arrested by the police for the illegal possession of such explosive device.

The suspect and the confiscated evidence are now in police custody for proper documentation and disposition.

He will be facing charges in violation of RA 9516 otherwise known as the Unlawful Manufacture, Sales, Acquisition, Disposition, Importation, or the Possession of an Explosive or Incendiary Device.

Meanwhile, PNP Regional Director Christopher C. Birung said that authorities will do everything to capture anyone in the province who possesses firearms or explosives without proper documents.

"Bilang Direktor ng PNP PRO2, gagawin namin ang lahat para panagutin ang sinumang lumabag sa batas ng walang kinikilangan at pinoprotektahan,” he added.
