Farmers from 3 Cordillera provinces benefit from delivery vehicle

Benguet, Philippines - Thousands of farmers from the three provinces of the Cordillera region will benefit from a new delivery vehicle funded by the Hi-Land Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative(HLFMPC) and the Department of Agriculture- Cordillera.

HLFMPC is a cooperative of 'actual farmers' from Benguet, Mountain Province, and Ifugao.

Aligned with the Kadiwa Program of the national government, DA- Cordillera, through its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), allotted P2.5 million to support the farmers in the region and boost their agricultural marketing.

In its counterpart, HLFMPC added P11 million for this project, DA- Cordillera mentioned in their press release.

Of the accumulated budget of P13.5 million, P5.5 million was used to purchase a new Hauling Truck while the remaining P8 million will be allotted for its operation and maintenance costs.

On Oct. 6, 2023, said vehicle was handed by DA- Cordillera to HLFMPC and will be used by over 4,000 farmer-members of the cooperative.

During the turn-over ceremony, HLFMPC Chairperson Marion Kimao assured that the provided vehicle would be used to boost the agricultural marketing of the farmers' crops.

He then thanked the DA- DA-Cordillera for its unwavering support to the Cordilleran farmers.
