Farmers in Mt. Province given P2M transport to market their products

Bontoc, Mt. Province – The Department of Agriculture- Cordillera through DA-RFO-CAR OIC Executive Regional Director Cameron P. Odsey on Thursday, June 17 2021, has turned over a flexi truck that will be utilized to transport the produce of farmers in the province.

The Provincial Information office of Mountain Province said the truck was bought by the provincial government through the two million transport assistance check granted by DA-CAR in January.

The transport assistance is an initiative under the Bayanihan II Stimulus Package aimed at providing transport assistance grant to local government units to benefit farmers. The provision of the vehicle is seen as a solution to the problem of transporting agricultural products of farmers due to restrictions of travel.

The provincial government through the Provincial Veterinary office has also been assisting farmers in the province through linking local farmers to consumers which helped lessen the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on farmers.

Aside from these, several programs of DA such as the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) program has also continued to benefit farmers in the province through the provision of livelihood assistance.

During the turn-over, the DA and local government officials present conveyed their messages and urged farmer-beneficiaries to maximize poverty-alleviation assistance provided by the DA as this, they said shows that the government is doing its job in its pursuit of poverty eradication.

Alongside the turn-over of vehicle, a ceremony for the provision of chicken-breeder assistance and an egg incubator to identified Dalican beneficiaries for a poultry multiplier farm project funded under the DA’s SAAD program was also conducted.
