Farmers in Mt. Province receive over P.2M agri-based livelihood aid

Mt. Province, Philippines – Farmer organizations along with individual beneficiaries from the municipalities of Sadanga and Sabangan Mountain Province were granted Agri-based livelihood assistance on October 14, 2022, as part of the government’s efforts to help the sector rise from the effects of the pandemic.


The recipients, according to Mountain Province Provincial Government page, were the returning residents.

Said effort is under the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program through the Department of Agriculture (DA) - Regional Field Office of Cordillera (RFO – CAR).


The BP2 program is a national government initiative that started in 2021, aiming at decongesting highly urbanized areas by providing its beneficiaries who decided to go back and settle in their original hometown, lost jobs or their source of income due to the pandemic with opportunities, employment, and other assistance or services.


There were 20 individuals and 3 Farmers Cooperative and Associations (FCAs) beneficiaries from Sadanga, while 23 individuals and 4 FCAs beneficiaries were from Sabangan.


Individual recipients received vegetable seeds with two bags of fertilizers and materials for pigpen construction, two crossbred gilt pigs, eight sacks of hog feeds, and farm tools, including garden hose, garden hoe, and field boots. The amount of the said items is about P140,000.

Each group, meantime, was given four crossbred gilt pigs, vegetable seeds, and one bag of fertilizer to support their crop, and livestock livelihood projects worth P154,000.


During the awarding, DA-RFO-CAR Regional Executive Director Cameron Odsey reminded all beneficiaries to value and maximize the assistance provided to them and to begin a new life in their hometown.
