Faster internet connectivity expected this year – DICT Cordillera


Baguio City, Philippines – Faster internet connectivity can be expected in the region this year, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) – Cordillera pledged.


The agency represented by DICT – CAR Regional Director Pinky Jimenez disclosed this during the Kapihan sa Baguio on June 26, 2023.


According to Jimenez, the region is covered by the National Broadband Program (NBP) Phase 1 which will start serving the country by mid-2023. NBP was developed by the government to accelerate and improve the internet speed in the Philippines by building a high-speed broadband network.


Among the actions being done by the DICT in relation to the project is coordinating with the local government units for faster implementation of the program, the Philippine Information Agency Cordillera reported.


Jimenez likewise said that they are not only preparing the infrastructure sites but also ‘preparing the people on digital transformation’.


“We look forward that people will feel DICT presence. For the part of DICT, we will do our mandates that is bringing the DICT of the people, for the people, and felt by the people,” Jimenez further conveyed.
