Father and daughter from Baguio City drown in La Union beach

Baguio City, Philippines – A post-Christmas getaway for a family from Baguio City turned tragic as a father and a daughter drowned at a beach in Bauang, La Union on December 28, 2022.


Police investigation showed that family Gines of Bakakeng, Baguio City went to a family outing at a beach in Barangay Baccuit Sur on Wednesday.

However, at around 4:00 p.m., the fun moment among the family members turned grim as the 26-year-old Geosa Gines - Osillo was swept away by strong waves while they were swimming.


Osillo’s 67-year-old dad, George Gines came to her rescue. Unfortunately, while he was trying to save his daughter, he was caught by strong currents resulting for him to drown in a deep portion of the waters.


The father and daughter were rushed to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
