Father and son brutally killed; bodies found abandoned at roadside in Licuan-Baay, Abra

Licuan-Baay, Abra – The dead bodies of a father and son were found Friday, October 12, at a roadside, at Sitio Pasigad, Bonglo, Licuan-Baay, Abra.

A resident near the area first saw the remains of the two victims who immediately called the police to inform them what he discovered.

Personnel of the Licuan-Baay MPS immediately proceeded to the area and saw the victims in awful condition- the two had cuts in their necks and sustained gunshot wounds in various parts of their bodies. The older victim was found with taped mouth.

Their remains were later ferried to the Joces Funeral Homes in Tayum where they were later identified by their relatives.

The two were identified as Alex Borreta, of legal age, a part-time driver, and his son, Richard Borreta 17, a grade 10 student. The two were residents of Barangay Agtangao, Bangued, Abra.

At the crime scene, two empty shells and a bullet from a caliber .45 and two empty shells from a caliber 5.56 Armalite rifle were recovered.

The vehicle used by the victims was earlier found abandoned in Barangay Sulbec, Pidigan, Abra at around 10 p.m. on October 11.

The Borreta’s matriarch, in an interview with local media, said that a day before the discovery of their bodies, her husband got out of their house, along with their 17-year-old son. She recalled this was around 7:30 p.m. on October 11.

Although the husband did not exactly tell them where they were headed, he told his wife they would return after a couple of minutes. However, the two did not return since then, not until they were already informed of what happened to them morning of October 12.

Police are now conducting a thorough investigation into said incident.
