Alcala, Cagayan –A father and son were found dead floating in the Cagayan River on Wednesday, November 2, according to authorities in the area.

Authorities identified the father and son victims as Felipe Pulido, 54, and Jonathan Pulido, 30, both residents of Barangay Agani, Alcala, Cagayan.

Also found on the same day was another male drowning victim, identified as Renato Tabarejo, 55, a resident of the same barangay.

Felipe and Jonathan Pulido were first retrieved by rescuers at 9:30 AM, while Tabarejo was recovered around 12:36 PM.

In a report by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, the 3 victims were said to have headed to the Cagayan River on November 1 to fish using a boat but never returned.

Their families reported the matter to authorities on November 2.

In their initial investigation, the police hinted the boat was overloaded since it was supposed to carry only 2 persons.

Alcala Chief of Police Major George Maribbay also said it was raining and windy at that time, making them conclude that the weather condition might have caused the boat to overturn.

Report said the three were under the influence of liquor when the incident happened.

A day before, two dead, male bodies were also found floating in the Cagayan River.

Authorities identified the victims as Herbert Garan, 21, single, a resident of Barangay Afusing Daga, Alcala, Cagayan, and Virgilio Magora, 66, a resident of Barangay Stefania, Amulung.
