FB scammer in Benguet who swindled P.2M, caught by entrapment

La Trinidad, Benguet – A 39-year-old woman ended in the hands of authorities after using the messenger of another person to scam listed Facebook friends.


The Philippine National Police Cordillera identified the suspect as Lorna Banos Satol, married and a resident of Bangao, Buguias.


According to the police, they received complaints from two victims, whose names were withheld for security purposes. It was disclosed that the suspect used the Facebook messenger account of a certain Aljurina Colaling to borrow money from the account holder’s listed friends.


Satol was said to have collected a total amount of P230,000.


Due to the complaints, the police conducted an entrapment operation against Satol on the evening of August 19, 2021, at a restaurant in Km 5, La Trinidad, Benguet that resulted in her arrest.

On the course of her arrest, the operatives confiscated from her the boodle money and a cellular phone used in the transaction.


The suspect and the pieces of evidence were brought to the Criminal and Investigation Detection Group Benguet for documentation.


Moreover, cases for violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code (Estafa) and Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 shall be filed against her. Additionally, the cellular phone was submitted to Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit – Cordillera for forensic examination.
